Learn Thai massage - Lake Atitlan Guatemala

As a teenager in 1970 I left my native Kentucky and have traveled or lived out of the U.S. ever since. My new life started in Europe. Of the following ten years, five were spent in Europe, four in Central and South America and one in Africa.

In 1981 I found myself in Malaysia where I began learning massage and healing with my first teacher, Mr. Li. He was a Chinese Tui Na practitioner and fruit farmer, who took only 2 students per year for 6 months each. It is impossible to do justice to all he taught me in that time.

Mr. Li was the first of my many teachers. He recognized and disciplined me, and as my skills developed, sent me out to continue to explore the healing touch path. It was Mr. Li who told me to go to Thailand after we finished our time together.

There I discovered traditional Thai massage and studied at the Old Chinese Medicine Hospital in Chang Mai for 2 months. Then I had a chance to put my newly acquired training into practice in Dharamsala, India.

Dharamsala is the home of the Tibetans spiritual leader in exile, the Dalai Lama. I worked on monks and Westerner meditation practitioners who did long sittings. It was fantastic to begin doing Thai Learn Thai massage - Lake Atitlan Guatemala massage there as it was originally invented for monks. Returning to my then home in Austria, I was able to immerse myself with another teacher, Inge from Hungary and learn some Western style relaxation and therapeutic massage techniques.

In 1985 I bought land at Lake Atitlan and have considered Guatemala home ever since.

Later my travels found me in Alberta, Canada where I learned more Swedish massage and hand and foot reflexology.

In Vancouver I received Level 1 Reiki training from Lani Kato and later in Guatemala received Level 2 and then Reiki Master training from Santa Fe based Reiki Master Rohini Skilling.

In 1985 I returned to Guatemala to settle down with my children and begin a practice which thrives to this day. I continue to study and learn new ways to assist others on their healing journeys or simply help them relax and be in touch with themselves in a sincere and caring way.

Here I have studied Acupressure using a Tei Shin which is the tool that preceded needles in acupuncture, 5 Element form balancing, Auricular therapy and the I Ching with Guatemalan based acupuncturist James Easter.

In 1996 I took more Thai massage training with Hawaiian practitioner Passion Flower.

I still travel when I can, plus I work and teach in the U.S several times a year. I have taught Thai Massage in Bozeman, Montana at the Health Works Institute, in Colombia and Kansas City, Missouri, South Texas and I can be found 2 times a year at the Kabuki Springs and Spa in San Francisco, Ca.

Here at home, where I have been for 25+ years, I am a mom, a community member, a love practitioner in my life and in my work. I am thrilled to be able to offer the transformative and healing power of Thai Massage and the cultural experience of Guatemala.
